More and Better Public Transportation!
Congress will soon make far-reaching decisions about our transportation
system as part of the economic recovery package. Congress should take
this opportunity to fund public transportation, not more new, massive
highway projects that don’t address our fundamental transportation
problems.

Dear Member of Congress:
Congress
will soon vote on a recovery package that will include significant
investment in our nation’s transportation system. It is a historic
juncture and an opportunity to create more and better public
transportation, which will reduce our dependence on oil, increase our
economic competitiveness and cut air pollution and traffic congestion.
I
encourage you to put our country on a path toward a 21st century
transportation system by investing 40 percent of the transportation
dollars in clean, efficient public transit.
